Denise talks to Julie Zarifeh, clinical psychologist about life after the heart-breaking loss of her husband and son in 2017. Julie shares her experience of active grieving which she says was not running away from grief, but running with her grief. She shares the strategies that worked for her including: deep emotional connection, helping others, learning, and focusing on the good.

Julie Zarifeh, is a NZ-trained, registered consultant clinical psychologist. In her career she has worked with people suffering from depression, anxiety disorders and eating disorders.
After the tragic loss of her husband and son in 2017 Julie turned her focus to understanding resilience and how we can support and promote it. She is currently working on a resilience and loss project with the families and survivors of the Christchurch Mosque attack in 2019.
Julie’s book ‘Grief on the Run’ was published in March 2021.
